Small folio, red half-chagrin, spine decorated (modern binding). First edition of this famous dictionary, a work that synthesizes all Champollion's research and work on the ancient writing of the Egyptians. The Dictionary, entirely autographed from the author's manuscripts, was published posthumously by Champollion-Figeac, the elder brother of the discoverer of the Rosetta Stone. After rejecting traditional typographical printing methods [...] the publishers opted for an original technique combining typography and lithography (Jammes, Les Didot, n°174). Ex-libris and wet stamp on title Pierre Prudon. A very fine, well-established copy.
