The saucers with four-lobed cartouches surrounded by red and gold scrolls, with a "Böttger lustre" background and gold lace motifs on the rims. On the outside, purple background. Circa 1735. Very slight gold wear. H: 7 cm - Diameter under cup: 13 cm. Markings: crossed swords in blue and R in gold under each cup and under cup. Höroldt, the genius of the painted decoration of the Meissen manufactory, developed from the 1725s a large number of coloured backgrounds, in reference to the Chinese models. He developed this purple background towards the end of 1731. The decorations were then placed in cartridges according to a rigorous principle of organization, highlighted by these coloured backgrounds.
