IMPORTANT CARTEL D'APPLIQUE in violin shape and its console in Martin varnish with polychrome flower decoration, the thirteen-piece enamelled dial signed CHAUVOT A PARIS as well as the movement. Beautiful ornamentation of chiselled and varnished bronzes (some varnished) with Rocaille decoration of branches, flowers and sledgehammers, the motif of the door representing the fable of the crow and the fox. The case is stamped J. GOYER and hallmark of the Jurande des Menuisiers Ebénistes, JME. Original wire suspension. Louis XV period (accidents and restorations, the lacquer in bad condition).

Notes : - Alexis Joachim Chauvot born in 1731, received Master in 1760, settled rue des Boucheries from 1760 to 1767, then rue du Petit Lion. - Jean Goyer born in 1731, received Master in 1760, settled rue de Charenton, specialized in the manufacture of clock sheaths and clock boxes. - A handwritten paper from the last restorer, Le Garde-Temps à Saint Amand dated 5.11.1981, mentions the dates and names of the watchmakers who have restored this cartel since the 18th century: "Masson October 1762; Masson June 1777; E. Marchais chez Gavalda in Bourges November 1882; P. Pillemont chez M. Perret in Orléans on 20 December 1947". - A similar cartel, unsigned, with identical bronzes, Osenat sale, Fontainebleau, April 28, 2019, lot 93.
