ALMANACH OF THE NEGOCIANS, containing the Table in alphabeti - Lot 21
ALMANACH OF THE NEGOCIANS, containing the Table in alphabetical order of the good Trading Houses of the main Places of Europe, with the reasoned Table of the most interesting Manufactures of Europe. Brussels, Jorez, 1762. In-12, marbled calf, cold fillet, decorated spine, red title coin, red edges (contemporary binding). Goldsmiths, number 9775.1. Original edition. Very interesting work, announced as a supplement to the Journal du Commerce which was published from 1759 to 1762 by Jacques d'Accarias de Sérionne (1709-1796), a French publicist cited among non-physiocratic economists (cf. Spengler, pp. 292-296). In addition to a list of the main names of merchants, manufacturers, traders, bankers and other company directors, it contains a list of the most renowned manufacturers among those who supply Europe with various products and materials: steel, jewellery, hats, ropes, lace, fans, gold and silver wire, ice cream, porcelain, ribbons, wool and silk fabrics, canvases, etc. First notebook a little yellowed, one page torn without missing a single page, a small wetness on the last page. Bits and caps restored.
