NECKER (Jacques). Report to the King. Paris, De l'Imprimerie - Lot 93
NECKER (Jacques). Report to the King. Paris, De l'Imprimerie du Cabinet du Roi, 1781. In-4, red half-marquin, decorated spine, olive title coin, marbled edges (Modern binding in the taste of the time). Another copy of the true original edition, complete with the 2 maps and the large folding board. Without the portrait. Bound at the head, of the same: Memory given to the King. In 1778. S.l.n.d. [1781]. (1 f. of title, II and 27 pp.). This memoir on the provincial administrations was composed in 1778 and printed furtively in 1781 (Stourm). Linked to the suite: [SAINT VINCENT (Robert de)]. Modest Observations of a Citizen, On Mr. Necker's Financial Operations [...]. S.l.n.d. [1781 ?]. The author defends Necker and tends to prove that the means employed by the Minister were the best combined. The copy is further enriched by 4 engravings executed in Necker's time: a superb allegorical frontispiece coloured at the time with the caption Allegory of the Report to the King, another allegorical frontispiece, and 2 portraits of Necker (one as a flying proof).
