In-8, paperback, smooth edges, cover of the period. Sabin, n°44140. Second edition of this complete history of the island of Santo Domingo. It was published the same year as the original, printed at 700 copies and quickly sold out (see the Notice from the Bookseller-Publisher). The supporting notes contain, among other things, a transcript of a letter addressed by Toussaint-Louverture to Bonaparte, in which the black general denounces the carnage and devastation that has spread on his island by the forces designed to enforce French sovereignty (pp. 349-352).
