CHRISTIAN DIOR Haute couture. Rose Rouge" model Spring/Summer 1958, "Trapeze" collection. Evening dress in red taffetas with a high twisted draped strapless top decorated with a bow at the heart representing the button of a rose from which a stole escapes. Ends of the knot and the stole with fringes finishing. Black label on white background "SPRING/SUMMER 1958 Christian Dior PARIS" with stamp n°94051. Inside of the bust reinforced with whalebones and white tulle. Two staples, one of which is partially damaged. Different layers of rigid tulle petticoats in different colors. Attachments for suspenders. Wear under the left arm. A few small stitches in the drapery to be retaken. Size: 63 cm. Chest: 73 cm. Court shoes covered with matching taffetas signed "ASCOTT MANNEQUIN 18 Rue Royale PARIS". Size 7 Matching pocket in taffetas. White tulle petticoat in addition. Original box, original glued label. (accidents, tears) Model created by Yves Mathieu Saint Laurent for his first Haute Couture collection at Dior. This model finds its historical importance in its perfect balance between the aesthetics faithful to Christian Dior and the fluidity accentuated by Yves Mathieu Saint Laurent during his years at the head of the House's artistic direction. Rare model long known only through an advertising campaign, where it is worn first by Simone d'Aillencourt (photo n° 91_15), then by a second model (photo n°91_16). It then enters the wardrobe of countess Jacqueline de Ribes, a great friend of Yves Mathieu Saint Laurent, and is photographed being worn by the latter, indoors, (probably at her home on rue de la Bienfaisance), by Mr Dudognon (photo n° 91_17).
