Village rejoicing, circa 1680 Skin fan sheet, put in a rectangle, and glued on a wooden panel. Peasants are depicted in a rural setting at nightfall. To celebrate Candlemas, some dance or play music, others bring food and bottles to make bombing. A woman pours milk into a large cauldron. And, on her doorstep, a couple is offered some kind of pancake or porridge. The throat location and upper corners completed later. H. 22 cm x W. 46 cm (at sight) In a carved wooden frame with flower decoration, and gilded. Under glass. (important accidents) Provenance: former collection of Michel Maignan.
