Sleeping Love, circa 1690 Folded fan, the leaf in skin painted on a brown background after the composition of Albane (1578-1660), "Les amours désarmés". Diana in a cloud presides over the gestures of the nymphs who cut off the wings of sleeping lovers or take hold of their bows. Reverse painted on a cream background of a profusion of flowers gushing from two horns of plenty. Rare brown tortoiseshell frame**, engraved and gilded on the face and reverse of peasants dancing and playing music and an elegant couple with their page. H.t. 29.5 cm-H.F. 18.5 cm (accidents, important restorations) Provenance: former collection of Michel Maignan. This fan was presented at the exhibition "L'éventail à tous vents du XVIe au XXe siècle", Paris, Le Louvre des Antiquaires, 1989 cat.29.
