Georges Cain (1853-1919), Thoughts, 1881 Folded fan, the sheet in cream skin painted with a violet and yellow pansies.signed and dated on the left " Georges Cain 1881 ". Mute reverse (small spots) Black mother-of-pearl mount called Tahiti. Raised figure on the plume. H.t. 30 cm-H.F. 16.2 cm (marks in the folds) NB: Georges Cain, painter pupil of Cabanel and Detaille, French illustrator and writer. He was curator of the Carnavalet Museum in Paris from 1897 to 1919. He corresponded with Octave Uzanne, author of "L'Eventail", published in 1882. The Carnavalet museum also keeps a fan of his hand decorated with thoughts (inv. EV0690).
