Rare, old cast iron Diameter : 9 cm (Slight wear, missing ram, pierced at the top) A copy is kept in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, inv. MedFr158. Charles de L'Aubépine (1580-1653), marquis of Châteauneuf-sur-Cher, was ambassador, chancellor of the King's orders and then keeper of the seals from 1630 to 1633 and from 1650 to 1651. The goldsmith and medallist Josias Belle is one of the most talented artists who worked for Louis XIV. He was responsible for the gold cases of clocks and pendulums, as well as for cameo and vase mounts of great refinement. Article consulted: M.
