A small straight chest of drawers in rosewood, violet wood and amaranth veneer decorated with lozenges and triangular spandrels, opening with three drawers, the two lower ones without a crossbar, the rounded uprights, the tapered legs with dark brass flutes. Important ornamentation of chased and gilded bronzes: frieze of foliage, garlands, leaves, posts in fall with acanthus leaves, framing of heart-shaped grapes, foliated handles. Grey veined brown marble top. Beautiful Louis XVI style model made at the end of the 19th century after a model by Jean-François LELEU (missing a large part of the brass strips of the flutes). H. 88 cm - W. 91 cm - D. 51 cm Note : after the pair of commodes, preserved in the Château de Versailles, delivered by order n° 32 of May 1st 1773, with a third commode now in London (Wallace Collection) for the bedroom of the Princess de Condé in the Palais Bourbon in Paris.
