CHRISTIAN DIOR Haute couture. Autumn/Winter 1961, "Charme 62" collection. Cocktail dress in emerald green taffeta articulated in two elements. The main body has the upper part of the bust in matte silk, the latter hidden by the second element, the lower part of the bust and the trapeze skirt in emerald taffeta. The closure of the body of the dress is done at the back, by two different zips, a first one for the construction base and the lining, the second one securing the whole body in taffeta. On top of this first element, comes to be added with the help of pressures and hooks an ultra short sleeveless waistcoat crossed in green taffeta too, creating a kind of breastplate buttoning on the left shoulder. Bottom of the first petticoat in green taffeta on a semi-rigid frame covered with black fabric, second petticoat sewn on the first in black fabric, all under the trapeze skirt. Reinforcements and light clamps on the inside of the bust, visible cuts. Inside of the second element in the same fabric as the top of the bust of the first element. Signed in black on white "AUTUMN/WINTER 1961 Christian Dior PARIS" with stamp n°111774. Height: 63 cm. Chest: 82 cm. Length of the skirt: 60 cm. Wear under the arms. A few small stitches on one of the two fasteners to be taken back. Some snaps with distended threads, some pulled threads, some traces, slight wear. Model designed by Marc Bohan, who took over the creative direction of the House the same year. This model echoes the emblematic "Vert Gazon" ensemble from his first Spring/Summer 1961 collection. Marc Bohan will remain until 1989. This dress probably belonged to the actress Simone Simon.
