CORMERÉ (Guillaume-François de Mahy, baron de). New research - Lot 49
CORMERÉ (Guillaume-François de Mahy, baron de). New researches and considerations on finances. London, 1789. 2 volumes in-8, half tan basane, smooth spine decorated, red title and giblets, yellow edges (Binding of the period). INED, n°3006. - Stourm, p. 28. First edition, decorated with 27 (2 + 25) folding tables, printed or engraved, and a nice watercoloured folding map indicating the guards who require the collections of the Ferme générale for drafts, gabelles and tobacco. This work offers a complete picture of the finances at the beginning of the Revolution. Cormeré, an official of the Contrôle Général, whose skills were praised by Dupont de Nemours, gives a good account of the financial mechanism of the time, but adds developments relating to his own reform plans (Stourm). From the library of P. de La Morandière, with bookplate. Small stains and foxing on some leaves. Cracks in two spines, binding rubbed.
