NECKER (Jacques). Compte-rendu au Roi. Paris, From the Printing Office of the King's Cabinet, 1781. In-4, half red morocco, spine decorated, olive title, marbled edges (Modern binding in the taste of the time). Another copy of the true first edition, complete with the 2 maps and the large folding table. Without the portrait. Bound at the head, by the same author: Mémoire donné au Roi. In 1778. S.l.n.d. [1781]. (1 f. of title, II and 27 pp.). This memoir on the provincial administrations was composed in 1778 and stealthily printed in 1781 (Stourm). Bound at the end: [SAINT-VINCENT (Robert de)]. Modest Observations of a Citizen, On the Operations of Finances of Mr. Necker [...]. S.l.n.d. [1781 ?]. The author defends Necker and tends to prove that the means employed by the minister were the best combined. The copy is also enriched with 4 engravings executed during Necker's time: a superb allegorical frontispiece coloured at the time bearing the legend Allégorie du Compte-rendu au Roi, another allegorical frontispiece, and 2 portraits of Necker (one as a loose proof).
