The slim pamphlet Sur le bonheur des sotsde Necker occupies pp. 121-134, the rest of the volume containing the moral treatise of Meister, secretary of Grimm and friend of Diderot and Necker. According to Necker, the pillars of the mercantilist state were power and happiness (cf. Spengler, p. 300). Old handwritten signature on the title. Marginal stains on the endpapers, title and last two leaves, due to the return of the skin on the back covers. Epidermal damage to the binding.
