Amsterdam, 1776. 2 volumes in-8, marbled calf, triple gilt fillet, smooth spine decorated, red title and tomaison, marbled edges (Binding of the period). INED, n°3511. First edition, decorated with 8 folding tables. It was published under the pseudonym of Charle [sic], Élie, Denis Roonptsÿ, maître du Caffé. Le Caffé politique exposes in the form of five lively dialogues the economic debates and international politics of the time. The fifth dialogue, which occupies the whole of the second volume, is a discussion of Turgot's ruling establishing the liberalization of the grain trade: this ruling gives rise to contrasting reactions, in particular from the Cosmopolite, masque de Pellissery, who criticizes this measure. Old note on the title, signed Noel, which attributes the work to Necker or Pellissery. Tear without missing a table (t. II, p. 142). A few stains in volume I, book C. Restorations to the binding (headbands, spines and corners).
