Pair of busts of children in bronze with brown patina, decorated with blue enamelled copper plates bearing the gold inscriptions Tout rends mes risers amers and Tout ren[ds mes larmes douces. Heads of character expressing two different moods, one with a smiling expression, the other sad, slightly tilted and turned; faces with full cheeks and short hair with soft and untidy locks. Suite by Jean Raon (Paris, 1630-1707), first half of the 18th century Height : 14,5 cm On grey veined white marble bases. Total height : 25,5 cm (accidents to an enamelled plate) This pair of children in bronze takes the characteristic hermes shape of the busts of Jean Raon as illustrated in F. Souchal, French Sculptors of the 17th and 18th Centuries - the Reign of Louis XIV, vol. III, Oxford, 1987, p. 224, fig. 46.
