Claude-François de PAYAN (1766-1794) revolutionary, national agent of the Paris Commune, guillotined with Robespierre. 2 L.A.S., Paris April-May 1794; 1 page in-4 each, the 2nd on the letterhead of the Paris Commune. The citizen Nicolas was named commissioner of the wars; it is necessary to provide him with his patent, and to render all possible services to him: "it is one of the purest patriots, the warmest that I know"... 6 prairial II (May 25, 1794), to the Citizens of the general assembly of the Section of the Museum. Charged to give an account to the district of the "diligences made for the execution of each law", and to "denounce the delays and the negligent and prevaricating public officers", he asks for an extract of the minutes of their meetings.
