Marc-Antoine JULLIEN of Paris (1775-1848) politician and publicist, friend of Robespierre, charged with important missions during the Terror. L.A.S, Bordeaux 30 prairial II (June 18, 1794), to the municipality of Lesparre; 1 page and a quarter in-fol. vignette, letterhead Marc-Antoine Jullien, Member of the Executive Commission of Public Instruction, sent by the Committee of Public Salvation, to Bordeaux, address (wormholes, inner edge gnawed and repaired). On the naval combat of the Vengeur off Ouessant. Jullien announces that the naval army arrived in Brest on 23 prairial, after "two successive fights had taken place on the tenth and the thirteenth, halfway to Terre Neuve. The English squadron was composed of 34 ships, 9 of which had three decks, and ours of 26 ships, 3 of which had three decks; in three hours, 17 ships were razed, 7 of which were ours and 10 were enemy ships. We disemboweled half of their squadron and damaged the rest," and the enemy withdrew "in great disrepair": "We are now the masters of the sea, and we will leave again in two days with a strong squadron. The convoy from the United States, so impatiently awaited, has just arrived, it is 116 sails long and has brought 7 to 8 catches: long live the republic! Our sailors as well as our soldiers are triumphant"...
