After his accusation of negligence during the fire of the ship Le Quatorze Juillet in Lorient (April 4, 1798). He is impatient to see that the Council of Five Hundred has not yet finished on the report made by Boulay-Paty. "Can one not make me know the names of the individuals with what they wrote against me. I am well assured if I had this knowledge that I would not have any difficulty in revealing the motives which made them act. It is not allowed to fight in the dark". He is certain to have fulfilled his duties and expects that the Directory will do him justice...
