Armand BARBÈS (1809-1870) politician, ardent revolutionary. - Lot 662
Armand BARBÈS (1809-1870) politician, ardent revolutionary. L.A.S., The Hague September 26, 1869, to Jules CLARETIE; 4 pages in-8 on blue paper (some cracks; photograph attached). He thanks him for his "splendid" article: "I am not one of the best, and although in very bad condition, I am not, either, quite dead. Therefore, I vote that my biography be suppressed, or at least sent back to the time when I will have on my body the regulation six feet of earth. [...] I continue to be very stupid and very unwell. I am, however, a little less ill, thanks to Gambon who, having learned [...] that I was sicker, ran to treat me. They were able to go for a walk to Scheveningen. "I am still waiting for Victor Hugo. But I don't know when he will come, nor where he is since the end of the congress of Lausanne"...
