Théodore Gosselin, called G. LENOTRE (1857-1935) historian. - Lot 665
Théodore Gosselin, called G. LENOTRE (1857-1935) historian. L.A.S. with drawing, Paris 46 rue Vaneau, to a doctor and friend; 2 and a half pages in-8. On the location of the guillotine. He has published a work on the location of the scaffold at the Place de la Concorde, but this work is out of print. So he sends to his friend a small plandessiné and captioned: "For Louis XVI, the scaffold was at location A (between the pedestal of the statue of Louis XV and the entrance to the Champs-Elysées). For all the others - the Queen, the Girondins, the Dantonists - from May 8, 1793 to June 18, 1794, it was placed in B (between the pedestal of the statue and the entrance to the Tuileries Gardens). Then it was moved to the Place du Trône"...
