Charles-Éléonore DUFRICHE-VALAZÉ (1751-1793) conventioneer (Orne); influential member of the Girondin party, condemned to death, he stabbed himself upon hearing the sentence. P.A.S., Alençon June 30, 1790; 1 page folio. Petition to the National Assembly. Today, "at the roll call of the Electors of the department of the Orne, Mr. Charles Eléonore Dufriche de Valazé Elector of the town of Essay appearing in his rank, declared in the name of his town that the primary assembly of the parishes of the canton was transferred out of Essay, and carried, in spite of his complaints supported by decrees of the national assembly and a notice of the Committee of Constitution duly served, in the parish of Bursard. That the town of Essay could protest the nullity of the nomination of its electors made in Bursard; but that in spite of its sensitivity on the occasion of the injustice which was made to it, and of which it carried its bitter complaints to the national assembly, of which it awaits every day a consoling answer, it prefers to support a momentary prejudice, to the sorrow to disturb the respectable electoral assembly; but it is of its duty to make its most express reservations, which it does from this moment, so that one cannot induce from its silence an adhesion to the injustice of which it complained and of which it still complains "...
