August 11, 1792. Laissez-passer for "M. le Comte de Lally gentilhomme anglois retournant en Angleterre", signed by George Granville, count Gower, ambassador to S.M.T.C. August 27, 1792. Order of incarceration: "The Caretaker of the Abbey will receive the prisoner hereafter named Monsieur Laly de Tolendal"... Signed by Lenfant and Bernard, of the Police Department of the Municipality. [August 27, 1792]. Autograph bill from Gower to the Swedish ambassador [Germaine de Staël]: "I have just sent the secretary of embassy to Mr. Le Brun to notify him of the arrest of Mr. de Lally. This is all I can do for him in his circumstances, as I have no credentials with this government...
