"The General Council of the Commune deliberating on the dangers of the Fatherland; considering that one of the principal causes of these dangers still exists in the old nomination of the officers of the General Staff and of all the officers of the battalions of the Parisian army [...decides that within the day the Commander General will give orders for all the battalions, reduced to forty-eight, to be assembled [...] and that there, together with their brothers of the armed troops, it will be proceeded with the new election of all the officers of the Parisian army by tomorrow at the latest"...
