Pierre-François PALLOY (1754-1835) contractor, demolisher of - Lot 238
Pierre-François PALLOY (1754-1835) contractor, demolisher of the Bastille. L.S. "Palloy patriote" with autograph note, Paris December 6 "the third year of liberty" (1792), to the Friends of the Constitution; 2 pages in-fol. Sending a stone from the Bastille. "After having made homage to the ninety-three departments of this Empire of the models of the defunct Bastille, I discharge the duty which I imposed to myself to disseminate in all France and abroad the vestiges of our servitude, with the effect of perpetuating in all the regions the memory of the horrors which despotism exerted on us and which empire it had taken since more than three centuries. It is by propagating these remains of tyranny that the friends of the Constitution and of the laws still see with horror that they will keep these remains, a striking image of the old Regime, which freedom has annihilated. Supported by this goddess, we will oppose to the league of the fanatics, and enemies of the laws and our sublime Constitution "... At the head, this autograph note: " copy of letter by me, for the friends of the Consti[tu]tion ".
