We, Étienne Polverel and Léger-Félicité Sonthonax, Civil Commissioners of the Republic, Delegated to the French Isles of Leeward America, to re-establish public order and tranquility, ink stamp (wetness). Proposal of two persons for the vacant place of third counselor in the seneschalsea of St Louis of the South. Attached are 2 letters to Polverel and Sonthonax from the municipality of La Croix des Bouquets, April 7, 1793; a leave of absence signed by mulatto general André Rigaud, at Camp Perrin July 20, 1794; an interesting correspondence of 5 l.a.s. by Bessaignet, settler at Petit Goave, 1802-1803, about his dwellings and the properties of his correspondent, the slave revolt, etc. (plus 3 other letters).
