COMMUNE DE PARIS. P.A.S. by the secretary-registrar SÉGUY, extract from the minutes of the General Council of the Paris Commune of May 20, 1793; 3 pages in-fol. on the letterhead of the Paris Commune, small vignette. Important deliberation of the Commune on the events of the Vendée and the welcome given to the republican army: "the inhabitants of the countryside and the small towns [...] come to meet them shouting long live the republic and the public spirit is infinitely better than in the big cities. They say that they have found proof of this in the city of Tours, but on the other hand the administration of the department of Indre et Loire is composed of excellent patriots. [...] The brigands who had evacuated Thouars have returned there; this did not prevent 60 dragoons of the 19th regiment from entering and removing the white flag that the rebels had substituted for the tree of liberty. [...] The enemy seems to be heading for Niort, which leads us to assume that they will head for Rochefort or La Rochelle. The Council evokes the interest that the Committee of Public Safety would find in having patriotic newspapers printed in all France. The prosecutor CHAUMETTE exposes that he is going to make establish a poster explaining "his coonduct and his state, before and after the revolution, to answer the malicious ones who try to slander his intentions"... One wants to create in Paris 5 or 6 municipalities and to break the current municipality. One comes then to the distribution of the rifles of the Arsenal: "the rifles of gauge to the citizens intended to leave for the Vendée and the shotguns and others to the citizens who will give their rifle of gauge to the volunteers enrolled for the Vendée. [...] in the future, no citizen will be able to buy a rifle without being provided with a certificate of the revolutionary committee of the Section "....On gathers even the rifles in repair...
