Léonard BOURDON (1754-1807) conventionnel (Loiret), one of the main actors of August 10 and 9 thermidor, responsible for the massacre of the prisoners, he was very busy with education. 7 letters and documents, 1793-1799. Interesting file on his projects of republican and military schools. * P.A.S. and 3 P.S., 1793-1794, concerning his educational house, the "Société des Jeunes Français, Ecole Republicaine etablie au cy devant Prieuré de St Martin des Champs" (3 pages in-4 and 8 p. in-fol.). - Autograph memorandum to the Directory of the department on its installation in the former priory of Saint-Martin, asking that it be given the use of the entire priory to make it "the model of a free school where the children will be lodged, fed, maintained and instructed on their work"... - Copy of documents (decree of the Convention, decree of the Committee of Public Safety, etc.) on the reception by the Society of the Young Frenchmen of the orphans of the Defenders of the Fatherland, on the drawing and the manufacture of weapons by the pupils. - State of the citizens of the Société des Jeunes Français: list of the 215 pupils, the teachers and the staff. - Monthly consumption of the institution in food and supplies. * L.A.S. Leonard Bourdon", signed by BRIOT, SAVARY, SONTHONAX, SAINT-HORENT, BONNAIRE, 29 germinal VII (18 April 1799), to the central administration of the Department of the Seine (4 p. in-4). They warmly recommend Bourdon's project, which could "realize little by little a system of common education as useful to civilization as to the development of the physical and moral forces of youth"...
