Jean Sylvain BAILLY (1736-guillotiné 1793) scholar and astronomer, first Mayor of Paris. L.S. co-signed by Pierre Manuel (prosecutor of the Commune) and M.L.F. Duport-Dutertre (substitute prosecutor), Paris July 6, 1790; 1 1/2 pages in-fol. Crisis of housing before the festival of the Federation: "of the masters of furnished hotels abuse of the need where some of our brothers of province are to rent at an exorbitant price the rooms which they can have need.
