P.S. as National Civil Commissioner, Saint-Domingue November 11, 1792; 1 1/2 pages in-fol. ink stamps General Assembly of the French part of St. Domingue and National Civil Commission delegated to St. Domingue (small tear, ink a bit faded). copy of a request addressed to the intermediate Commission of the French part of St. Domingue, by Thomas, inspector then exempt in the police of the Cape: having decided to send his family to France to "save them from the misfortunes that afflict the colony", himself "ruined [...], his properties having been burned down", he would like a place as a captain... The request, supported by the mayor and the municipal officers of the city and suburbs of the Cape, is certified by Sonthonax Attached is a poster (printed by François Lamothe, [1793]): ordinance of Sonthonax, Commissaire-civil de la République, Délégué auxIsles françaises de l'Amérique sous le vent, pour y rétablir l'ordre et la tranquillité publique, given at Saint-Marc on November 4, 1793, declaring the release of the seizure of the goods embarked on the ships in the harbor and belonging to the citizens of Saint-Marc...
