Charles-Philippe RONSIN (1751-1794) a playwright exalted by the Revolution, he became a war commissioner and then a general; sent to the Vendée, he defeated La Rochejaquelein at Doué; guillotined with the Hébertists. L.S. as "L'Adjoint au Ministre de la Guerre", June 26, 1793, to citizen Gaudichon "officer of the Garde Nale de Chinon, assistant to the commissaires des guerres"; half-page folio, red wax seal. He warns Gaudichon of the decision of the Central Commission near the Army of the Coasts of La Rochelle: "you are provisionally elected to the place of ordinary Commissioner of the Wars"; and he orders him to go immediately to the headquarters to receive his orders of service there.
