In-8, marbled paper boards, untrimmed (Modern binding). INED, n°1535. - Spengler, p. 107. First edition. Dufriche de Valazé (1751-1793) was a deputy of the Orne department at the Convention. Condemned to death by the Revolutionary Court, he preferred to commit suicide by stabbing himself. In his work, he reflects on a reform of the penal system and proposes a new systematic and reasoned classification of different crimes (political, civil, domestic, etc.). The pp. 314-347 touch the question of the death penalty. A copy bound in pamphlet, with full margins and untrimmed. Light staining to a few leaves, trace left by a detached label (bookstore butterfly?) on the title.
