Embroidery KASHGAÏ (Persia), end of the 19th century - Lot 17
Embroidery KASHGAÏ (Persia), end of the 19th century Dimensions: 210 x 124cm. Technical characteristics : wool on cotton background. Indo-Persian inspiration for this embroidery, where stands out on a background anthracite vegetalized, a whole mythological and fantastic polychrome scene. On the first, a sacred figure kneeling on a throne, at the foot of which are lying two felines, is surrounded by angels and demons; a phoenix and other birds fly over them. On the second floor, we witness an improbable dance, where a sovereign surrounded by dancers and by the first sacred character, wiggles in front of a dragon, gaping mouth. Waitresses and attendants bringing victuals, occupy the third and last level. The frame consists of a main ruby border and two blue counter-borders, decorated with plant garlands with starry corollas and flowers. Beautiful poetry of "Waq-Waq" inspiration.
