KAZAK SEVAN carpet (Caucasus-Armenia), late 19th century - Lot 20
KAZAK SEVAN carpet (Caucasus-Armenia), late 19th century Dimensions : 230 x 152cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A brick field decorated with stylized trees of life and small Caucasian symbols supports a large cruciform medallion (Armenian church foundations) navy, highlighted with multicolored "Greek" friezes on an ivory background. From its hexagonal brick heart, a polychrome hooked entomological form stands out. Two pendants formed by trees of life in full bloom complete the decoration, as well as small animals and symbolic "S". The frame is composed of a bluish border with a succession of groups of four multicolored arrows in opposition, forming "negative" cruciform corollas. Two counter borders, ivory and anthracite, with hounds and sawtooth. Two-colored highlights. Beautiful Armenian ethnographic archaism (Wear, as is)
