Peripedil carpet (Caucasus), early 20th century Dimensions : 196 x 128cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A navy field, highlighted with chess pieces, hosts an inextricable decoration typical of Lesghi rugs. Indeed, framed by kindjals (Caucasian dagger) multicolored, guarded by kotchaks, stands out in the center, a succession of flaming starry flowers, stylized birds and large kotchaks (ram horns), aligned. A multitude of other small Caucasian symbols dot the field. The sky border with "kufic" decoration is a succession of delicately worked floral boxes. It is flanked by two counter borders with multicolored "bayadères". External highlighting with chess pieces old gold and sky in positive / negative. Beautiful presence and great sobriety.
