KIRMAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century early 20th century - Lot 120
KIRMAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century early 20th century Dimensions : 480 x 300cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on cotton background. This carpet offers us the vision of a paving in the antique, in the brick bottom, covered with a sowing of polychrome flowers, the decoration consists in the adjustment in quincunx of medallions ivory oblongs, polylobes and vegetalized in a stylized way. They rest, for some, on cruciform "foundations" which are not without reminding us the contours of a church. While the others are placed on shields in leafy braces, old gold. The whole is interspersed with cartouche marine in the form of shields more or less important. Four counter borders, sky and navy, with garlands of flowers enclose the main one, brick, with a succession of floral compositions and stylized flowers, accommodated with acanthus leaves old gold. Pleasant visual.
