Gilbert ROMME(1750-1795) mathematician, conventionnel (Puy-de-Dôme), creator of the republican calendar; arrested during the days of Prairial and sentenced to death, he committed suicide. P.S., co-signed by 8 others, [1790]; 1 page in-fol. "Table of members of the Society of the Friends of the Law, under the presidency of Mr. Sponville. List with the names of the President, the secretaries, and the signatures of "associates": besides Gilbert Romme, one notes Viaur de Belair, Hochet de la Terrie, etc. 2 l.s. by Jacobin societies (Société des Amis de la Liberté et de l'Égalité), with vignettes, are enclosed: Cherbourg January 8, 1793 (numerous signatures), and Marseille March 17, 1793.
