François-Alexandre-Frédéric, duc de LA ROCHEFOUCAULD-LIANCOURT (1747-1827) philanthropist and economist, deputy to the Constituent (Academy of Sciences). L.A.S., Liancourt February 5, 1806, to his beloved Daubercourt; 1 page in-4, address on reverse. He asks his friend to inquire about the fate of Laurent Legras de Cambronne, a grenadier in the First Division of the Grande Armée commanded by Gal Saint-Hilaire, who is said to have been killed at Austerlitz and whose mother came to him in tears, so choked with sobs that he could hardly write down the name, etc.
