AMERICA. - MIRABEAU. Considérations sur l'ordre de Cincinnat - Lot 7
AMERICA. - MIRABEAU. Considérations sur l'ordre de Cincinnatus, or imitation D'un Pamphlet Anglo-Américain. London, L. Johnson, 1784. In-8, paperback, marbled paper cover, in modern paper-covered slipcase. First edition. Published at the request of Benjamin Franklin, the work is a virulent pamphlet against the Order of Cincinnatus, founded by George Washington and composed of people who had distinguished themselves during the American War of Independence. Suspected of creating a new aristocracy, it was contrary to the spirit of the American Revolution. Copy as issued, with minor flaws and restorations to cover.
