Et dont le sujet étoit : Les moyens de détruire la mendicité en France, en rend les Mendians utiles à l'État, sans les rendre malheureux. Chaalons-sur-Marne, Seneuze, 1779. Summary of the numerous memoirs submitted to the Académie de Châlons-sur-Marne on the question of begging in France: [L'Académie] received over one hundred memoirs. Under the title Moyens de détruire la mendicité en France, Abbé de Malvaux published a large in-8 volume of over 500 pages, in which he summarized the principal means proposed. In it, he proclaimed begging to be the necessary consequence of the great inequality in the distribution of wealth. It is due to the privileges of luxury. To destroy it completely, it would be necessary to destroy its primary causes [...] (Lichtenberger, Socialisme au XVIIIe siècle, pp. 346-347).
A fine copy, complete with the 2 endpapers containing the errata and privilege.
Slight wetness at the bottom of the title, with a few small brown spots.
