Very rare placard announcing the death sentence handed down to 23 civilians from Commune-affranchie or the Rhône department by the Commission révolutionnaire on 29 pluviôse an II (February 17, 1794).
The Revolutionary Commission established in Commune-affranchie, by the Representatives of the People, considering that it is now time to purge France of rebels to the national will; of those men who convened & protected the departmental congress of Rhône & Loire with their armed hands; of those men who bore arms against their homeland, slitting the throats of its defenders; of those men who, accomplices of tyrants, federalized the Republic [...]. The Revolutionary Commission condemns to death.
