First edition, with 4 tables and 60 copper-engraved folding plates.
Written in execution of the decree of the Comité de Salut public, dated 18 pluviose de l'an II, in which Monge recommends a new method for casting cannons in sand.
Copy enriched with a fine portrait of the author engraved in the black manner by Quenedey after Naigeon, and 4 additional proofs of plates XXIV, XXV, XXVII and XXIX, stamped, certified and signed by Gaspard Monge, Jacques Dillon, hydraulic and mechanical artist, and Alexandre Miche, head of the draughtsmen's office of the Comité de Salut public.
Light staining in the margins of the first few leaves, some worm damage not serious. Plate n°XXXXVI cut by the binder (not missing, part preserved).
