Account of one of the last criminal proceedings of the Ancien Régime, relating to the revolutionary days of October 5 and 6, 1789: the sumptuous banquet organized at the Opéra Royal on October 1 by the king's bodyguards, to celebrate the arrival of the Flanders regiment, aroused the anger of the starving people, who marched on Versailles to demand bread. Following these events, the royal family left Versailles for Paris. A pleasant, well-bound copy. Covers restored.
