ROBESPIERRE (Maximilien). Declaration of the Rights of Man a - Lot 216
ROBESPIERRE (Maximilien). Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. [Paris], De l'Imprimerie Patriotique et Républicaine, s.d. [1793]. In-8, 12 pages, paperback, red chagrin spine folder and modern slipcase. Very rare Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen by Robespierre, presented to the Société des Amis de la liberté et de l'égalité, seante à l'assemblée des Jacobins, on April 21, 1789. Robespierre's Declaration contains XXXVII articles, compared with only XVII in the official 1789 version that has gone down in history: in his version, Robespierre stressed the need to reduce social inequalities (Article XII), asserted a right to work (Article XII), and even proposed a right to insurrection (Article XXVII). Robespierre's Declaration was never implemented.
