SERGEANT-MARCEAU. Historical notes on General Marceau, who died in the campaign of 1796. Milan, Giusti, 1820. In-8, shagreened basane, gilt ribbon framing, ornate spine, red title page, yellow edges (period binding). First edition of the first work devoted to General Marceau (1769-1796): general-in-chief of the Army of the West, he captured Coblenz and died of his wounds in Altenkirchen, during the retreat of 1796, at the age of 27. Fine portrait of General Marceau, engraved in black manner, and 6 copper-engraved figures by Sergent-Marceau. One corner damaged.
