DEZAMY (Théodore). Code de la communauté. Paris, Prévost, Ro - Lot 279
DEZAMY (Théodore). Code de la communauté. Paris, Prévost, Rouannet, 1842. In-8, paperback. Rare first edition. Théodore Dezamy, a former schoolteacher from the Vendée region, became Cabet's secretary in Paris, from whom he distanced himself because of Cabet's religiosity. He posits the following six principles as the basis of all social organization: Happiness, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Unity, and Community, which is the most natural, simple and perfect form of association: Community of property, work and education. At the end, a large fold-out plan of a communal palace, as described in the Code de la communauté. A fine copy, as issued.
