Paris, Madame Huzard, 1825. In-8, purple half-chagrin, spine decorated with caissons (Binding circa 1850). First edition. Professor Fodéré (1764-1835), one of the pioneers of forensic medicine in France, studied the social disease of poverty from a medical perspective. He denounced the effects of industrialization as the cause of a new type of distress, and of machinism, at least in the way it is used by capitalists and the enslavement of workers robbed of the fruits of their labor.
