Manufacture of ISERLOHN, by Master Goldsmith Johann Heinrich GIESE (1716-1761). Chased and repoussé brass and copper snuffbox relating to the Seven Years' War. The decoration, in rocaille cartouches framed by trophies, captives and renown, depicts on the lid the battle of LIEGNITZ on August 15, 1760, between Frederick II's Prussians and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and on the background, the battle of WARBURG on July 31, 1760, with the Duke of Brunswick's staff observing an artillery duel. The scenes are accompanied by captions and titles relating to these Prussian victories. Signed in a scrolled cartouche Iohan Henrich Giese on one side and IH ?... FEC. on the other. Circa 1760. Minor scratches and knocks. L.: 16 - H.: 3.3 cm.
